< BACKBarrow's Little ReunionOctober 2002 After returning from the Reunion in Faslane a small group got together Monday evening at Dalton Cons Club, ably looked after by George and his superior. Most of the group comprising, Claud Roberts (known as dead light to some) - North Queensland, Paul Dube - Halifax, Canada, Charlie Lonsdale - Manchester, Graeme Mason - Thurso, Jim Crowe, Claude Bailey and myself, had not met for 40 years after leaving S/M 4. The Barrow web site was the catalyst for Graeme to join us, starting with an e mail from his son Leslie who, when surfing the web, found a name that he recognised as a person his father had talked about. This was Claud Roberts who was the Coxswain on Taciturn in Australia. Ron passed the e-mail on to me as I am in contact with Claud and arranged for Greame to stop over on his way south. The other traveller Paul Dube has a son in Barrow with the RCN in fact
he has been over a couple of times. Many stories were told at the club
some repeatable with others a little iffy, I can assure you the evening
was enjoyed by all. With thanks to John Houlding and the branch from those
who travelled to Faslane for the 2002 reunion. I understand it is possible
that we will have a return visit from the travellers. |
