Thank you so much for finding HMS D3. My uncle was Leading Signalman Paul Aspinall. He was my mothers half brother and she always said that Paul had been in a experimental Submarine in the Great War and it had gone down and never came up. I don't think my Mother and Grandmother were ever told the whole story. I only found out about The D3 when I started to reeserch using the internet. Can you please let me know if anymore relatives of the crew get in touch. God Bless you all for finding the wreck. Jennifer

I was too young to join the services during the war, but was in the Air Training Corps. My brother Bob (Robert Williams) served on Tally-Ho having lied about his age and enlisted in submarine training in North Wales, and as the European had ended he went out to the East, suffered minor damage in a brawl in Sydney, went on to help the British Navy "rescue" the lovely native girls in Tahiti and just weeks after the dropping of the two atomic bombs to visit and bring back a few souvenirs collected in these cities - such was our knowledge of the effects of radiation! He lived until a week or so before his 80th birthday in 2008 and had not had any problems with his health in the meantime. I do not remember the names of his friends with the exception of "Lofty" whom I believe had survived a sinking in which he got to the surface with a bucket over his head! I think there are some photos in the possession of his two children. This being the guest book I will try to send this to the Forum as well in case there are any of his mates around who remember him - He was red haired and came back with the most magnificant red beard!
