Are the MOD going to sanction females for submarine service?

I don't see the problem. I've always sailed with women as long as I've served on submarines. The mentality is that all live in the same accomodation as the next. If you're a woman or man that's your own personal beef, and if you don't like it - the service is not for you. That comes to bare whether it's hot bunking (as almost everybody does on NOR subs), toilettes or shower (we have one). It is a given that you give up some privacy and do not have a too big personal sphere  when you set your foot onboard as a member of the crew.

Latest info from newspapers(not always reliable) say that UK is going to authorise females to serve on boats. Now I know some of you old diesel grunts will say they've been doing that for years i.e missisle mary's on bombers! As a back afty, would agree in some cases. My question is, are the design of boats going to be altered to accommodate them? Whilst the new Astute class and Vanguards are extremely roomy compared to previous designs, there ain't much room for female only accommodation. So I say give all back afty's a nice girly to bunk up with or let them all bunk in the motor rm lower level to keep the greenies comfy.
